Brighton Speed Trials 2009 am 12.9

Damit´s nicht langweilig wird hab ich mit der Fertigstellung der ZZR bis Samstag 5.9 gewartet - der Motor ist gleich angesprungen -
mit der Probefahrt zur Abstimmung des Lachgassystems hab ich bis Montag 7.9 gewartet.
Die erste Probefahrt mit kleinen Düsen ist gut verlaufen - leider hat sich das Notebook während der Fahrt abgeschaltet und ich
hatte keine Aufzeichnung der Daten - bei der zweiten Testfahrt funktionierte zwar die Datenaufzeichnung aber ca. 2km vor
der rettenden Einfahrt in meine Werkstatt hatte sich das Gasseil ausgehängt - ich musste mit Standgas heimtuckern - zum Glück
fuhr zu dieser Zeit keine Polizei auf meiner Teststrecke - mit Standgas hätte ich denen schwer davonfahren können. Der letzte Testlauf 
mit grossen Düsen ist zufriedenstellend verlaufen und ich konnte mit dem verladen der ZZR für Brighton beginnen.
Abfahrt war diesmal am Mittwoch 9.9 um 5:15 - wir fuhren gemütlich mit 120 - 140 km/h von daheim bis Belgien - dort kamen wir
mit einem LKW Fahrer ins Gespräch der uns auf den Hafen Dunkerque (Dunkirk) und die Norfolkline aufmerksam machte.
Tatsächlich ist dort die Überfuhr mit Abstand am billigsten - wir haben für die Fahrt Dunkirk-Dover 52,78 Euro bezahlt -
20 Euro hätten wir bei Onlinebuchung gespart! Wir sind am 9.9 um ca. 23:00 Uhr angekommen und haben die Fähre um Mitternacht genommen.
Wir haben also ca. 18 Stunden für die Strecke von ca.1400km bei gemütlicher Fahrt und angemessenen Pausen benötigt.
In England wollten wir zum Windsor Racecourse fahren um dort zu übernachten, leider war eine Autobahnabfahrt gesperrt und nach einer 
Stunde Irrfahrt haben wir uns irgendwo eingeparkt um ein paar Stunden zu schlafen.
Am morgen hauten wir uns endlich ein ordentliches englisches Frühstück beim Roadchef rein:
Spiegeleier,Bohnen,Tomaten,Würsteln,Schwammerln,Speck - yes! Weiter gings zur Saltex Messe nach Windsor wo wir uns die neusten
Geräte zur Landschaftsbearbeitung (und da gibts wirklich abartiges!) sowie Spielplatzausrüstung und Zubehör angeschaut hatten.
Danach fuhren wir nach Seaford auf unseren Campingplatz um uns endlich ordentlich auszuschlafen.
Am nächsten morgen gingen wir nach Seaford um uns wieder ein fettes englisches Frühstück reinzuhauen.
Anschliessend fuhren wir nach Brighton zum Sightseeing. Im Laufe des Tages bekam ich Fieber, Kopf und Gliederschmerzen sowie
Husten und Schnupfen - irgendwo hatte ich mir einen Virus eingefangen. Am Samstag fuhren wir um ca.6:00 Uhr nach Brighton um noch
einen guten Platz im Fahrerlager zu bekommen. Es waren bereits einige Bekannte eingetroffen und wir begrüssten uns herzlich.
Das Wetter war herrlich, die Stimmung war jedoch wegen der traurigen Nachricht über das Ableben von Phil Manzano ein wenig
getrübt. Meine Grippe hielt mich auch hartnäckig davon ab mich wohl zu fühlen. Das Event lief wie immer perfekt diszipliniert
und gut organisiert ab. Meine Läufe waren wegen meiner Kopf und Gliederschmerzen eine Qual aber das Motorrad funktionierte
sehr gut. In der Mittagspause versammelten sich alle Starter der Motorradklassen an der Startlinie um Phil Manzano in
einer Gedenkminute die gebührende Ehre zu erweisen.
Roger Simmons brach an diesem Tag zweimal den Streckenrekord mit 8,85 und 8,73.
Steve Wood gewann die Double Six Run off (best improvement).
Am Abend plauderten und tranken wir noch gemütlich bevor wir uns herzlich verabschiedeten - see you next year!
Die Ace Cafe Verantstaltung am nächsten Tag konnten wir uns nicht entgehen lassen - am nachmittag verabschiedeten wir uns von
Brighton und fuhren Richtung Dover - bis dahin hatten wir schönes Wetter - pünktlich bei der Ankunft in Dover setzte
kalter Nieselregen ein - die Rückfahrt buchten wir online und bezahlten 34GBP also ca.39 Euro.
Nachdem wir die Fähre verlassen hatten fuhren wir bis Brüssel - dort parkten wir um ein paar Stunden zu schlafen - am
nächsten morgen genehmigten wir uns in Deutschland ein Frühstücksbuffet und fuhren dann ohne weitere Zwischenfälle nach Hause
wo wir gegen 20:00 Uhr ankamen.
Wir legten diesmal 3300km zurück, der Toyota genehmigte sich dabei 450l Eurosuper - Durchschnittsverbrauch 13,6l - iss OK!
Nächstes Jahr sind wir wieder dabei ...
